On October 7th, terrorists broke into the Yaakov family's home and abducted Yagil and his brother Or (16), who were alone in the house, at that time.
The brothers hid in the safe room and managed to inform their mother about the terrorists' intrusion. Later, their father, Yair Yaakov, and his partner Mirav Yaakov, were also abducted to Gaza, as seen in a video released by the terrorist organization.
On November 27, as part of the 4th phase of the exchange deal, Yagil and Or returned to Israel, while their father remains in captivity.
